Charles Connor Obituary

CONNOR, Charles "Chuck"

July 7, 1937 – January 20, 2025

Chuck Connor, 87, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. Born in McKees Rocks, PA, Chuck's life was defined by his love for family, his dedication to football, and the meaningful relationships he built throughout his life.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Jane Chujko, in 1958. Together, they built a strong and supportive family life, raising four children: Chuck, Michael, Karen, and Scott; and cherishing their five grandchildren: Alex, Ella, Matthew, Brandon, and Anne.

Chuck's career in football spanned decades, beginning as a player for the University of Cincinnati and later coaching at Montour High School. He furthered his career in player scouting and evaluation with the Pittsburgh Steelers and BLESTO before joining the Miami Dolphins as Director of Player Personnel under Don Shula. His contributions helped the Dolphins reach two Super Bowls during his tenure. Later, he joined the Atlanta Falcons as Director of Player Personnel/Pro, helping shape the team's roster and contributing to a Super Bowl appearance in 1999.

Chuck cherished his time with family and friends, forging connections that spanned decades. His warmth and authenticity left a lasting impression on all who knew him. In retirement, Chuck found fulfillment in life's simpler pleasures, such as traveling with family and longtime friends, working in the yard and being outdoors. Spending time with his grandchildren brought him endless pride and joy, and he treasured every moment shared with them.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; his children, Chuck, Michael (Nina), Karen (Randy), and Scott (Christy); his grandchildren, Alex, Ella, Matthew, Brandon, and Anne; and his brothers, Terry (Angie), Bob (Lucy), and Bill (Pat); many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hilda Connor. His legacy of hard work, humility, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lilburn, GA. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tommy Nobis Center or the Dementia Society of America.
