NELSON, Charles Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Charles H. Nelson, Jr. of Mableton, Friday, August 7, 2009; 1:00PM at Shaw Temple AME Church, 775 Hurt Rd., Smyrna. Dr. George D. Crenshaw, officiating. Remains in state 12:00NOON. Family and friends assemble 12:45PM at the church. Interment Westview. He leaves to cherish his memory: loving and caring wife, Tonia; sons, Bryant Charles and Nicholas Clark; mother, Brenda Sterling Nelson; father, Charles H. Nelson, Sr.; brother, Patrick (Robin) Nelson, Sr.; step-sisters, Charmelle Cavness and Rachel (Billy) Taylor; step-brother, Cedric (Kaylie) Robinson; mother-in-law, Jean Davis; sister-in-law, Traci Davis; one aunt; two uncles; three nieces; four nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. I didn't know Charles for very long, but I can honestly say he was one of my favorite people and one of the "realist" brothas I know. He was an inspiration to all the students that came through the Teen Artists Academy at Southwest Arts Center, and a real cool cat, ya dig. Charles you will be missed, but certainly not forgotten.
My sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to the Nelson family.

My prayers and blessings go out to the Nelson family. I was priveledged to know Charles through his time teaching at Southwest Arts Center. He was an excellent teacher who demanded the best from himself and his students. My prayers and blessings go out to the nelson family. I hope you can find peace in knowing that he uplifted, inspired and touched so many hearts through his spirit and his artwork. He will be greatly missed.
