Christopher Abrego Obituary

ABREGO, Christopher Ryan

June 10, 1978 – August 26, 2021

Christopher Ryan Abrego of Johns Creek, Georgia passed away suddenly on August 26, 2021. Born in Dallas, Texas, Chris moved to Georgia and graduated from Georgia State University in Atlanta where he earned a B.B.A. in Finance, in 2001. He then earned his masters degree (M.Sc.) from the London School of Economics and Political Science and in 2004, he earned his law degree (J.D.) from the University of Georgia School of Law. Chris began his legal career handling insurance defense matters, and he quickly realized that he had a burning passion for helping people in need, particularly those who had been badly injured and needed a voice in the civil justice system. As a result of this desire inside of him, Chris took a leap of faith and left the "big firm life".

In 2013 Chris founded The Abrego Law Firm, LLC where he realized his dream of starting his own firm. Chris and the firm thrived. His passion for this work was evident to anyone who knew him or watched him in action. He was very fortunate to handle a number of very significant cases and had also been recognized as one of the Top Young Trial Lawyers in the State of Georgia and for several years had been selected as a Rising Star Super Lawyer by Atlanta Magazine. Yet Chris, the man, the husband, the father, never changed. He remained very humble, driven, and committed to his work, family, and friends. Chris was a consistently positive voice and always had a smile on his face, often encouraging others when it was needed most. Chris also gave back to the legal community, founding a highly respected legal seminar which attracted state-wide attention, and he was devoted to mentoring and helping younger attorneys.

Chris and his family are active members of Perimeter Church in Johns Creek and serve within the church and Christian school. Chris and Lisa Anne truly enjoy raising their girls within the Perimeter Christian School covenant family and with their community of friends at the Atlanta Athletic Club, where they too are members. Chris was most recently ordained as a Ruling Elder of the church. Chris loved traveling and seeing the world but being on a beach was a favorite place to rest, think, and recharge. He adored attending his girls' activities, playing golf as often as possible, running and recently started painting. Although Chris was very accomplished in his work and professional life, he was always most proud of the beautiful life he began in 2008 and built along with his supportive and loving wife, Lisa Anne when they married, and were later blessed with their two baby girls, Ella and Sophie who were the absolute lights of his life. His little family was THE love of his life, and he leaves behind so many wonderful memories of all of their fun times and adventures together. Chris never stopped "Living the Dream" with his family. Through his memory and legacy, Chris will live on as their ROCK.

Chris is survived by his adoring wife, Lisa Anne, his two precious daughters, Ella Lorynn and Sophia Ryanne, his doting mother, Susan Nadel (Carlton) of Plano, TX, father, Russell Martin Abrego, brother, Russell Martin Abrego II, mother and father-in-law, John and Carol Heichberger, sisters-in-law, Lori Anne Scott (Brad) and Lynn Cofield (Gary), three loving nieces, Kaylie Cofield, Avery Scott and Tori Lynne Cofield, his only 'favorite' nephew, Braden Scott and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, September 8th at 3:30 PM at Perimeter Church, 9500 Medlock Bridge Rd., Johns Creek, Georgia 33097. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to please consider a donation to either Perimeter Church's Widow's Ministry, Anna's Sisters, or to Perimeter Christian School's Covenant Fund.
