Frankie Craig Obituary
CRAIG, Frankie Gillette
After a protracted battle with Alzheimer's disease, Frankie Gillette Horne Craig, of Marietta, GA, died in her home surrounded by her family on July 29, 2025. She was 86 years old.
Frankie was born on July 14, 1939, in Brunswick, TN, to father Walter Bennett Horne and mother Elnora Ruth Moose. She grew up in Memphis, attending Treadwell School. After graduation in 1957, she began working at General Electric Credit Corporation in the payables department, then moved to California with her high school sweetheart, Arthur Craig, to attend Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA. In addition to her college studies, she enjoyed working as a proofreader in the letter answering department.
Frankie and Arthur married on July 30, 1962, after Arthur was ordained by the Worldwide Church of God. The couple had 4 children and lived around the country as Arthur traveled to fulfill his ministerial duties. After Arthur retired from the church in 1975, the family moved to Georgia, where Frankie assisted with Arthur's audiovisual production company. In 1984 she began a career in accounting at Salzgitter AG, which later became Infra-Metals and then Preussag, where her knowledge of the German language stood her in good stead. After a successful career there spanning 25 years, she retired in 2009, enjoying the extra time with Arthur, the love of her life.
Frankie was a devoted wife and gentle, caring mother. Her organized, meticulous, and careful nature, as well as her head for numbers, served her well in working with Arthur's business and in her career at Salzgitter handling responsibilities like payroll. She loved flowers, watching the birds outside her picture window, music, poetry, playing cards, spending time with her family, enjoying the beauty of nature, and studying her Bible. One of her favorite family activities was taking a picnic lunch to a scenic park. She and Arthur traveled all over the United States together. She had an uncanny sense of direction and was everyone's go-to source for driving directions before map programs and apps were invented. As a cook, she was known for several classic Southern recipes she learned from her own mother, including deviled eggs, potato salad, half sour pickles, boiled custard, and the world's best sweet tea.
Frankie is survived by her son, LJ (Christal); her daughters, Althea Caces (Patricio) and Carissa Gilman (Jhaysin); her grandchildren, Jessica Allomong (Nathan Cassady), Patrick Allomong (Maggie), Isaac Craig, and Noelle Caces; her sister, Elaine Falls (Richard); and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her oldest daughter, Trina Allomong; her parents; and her sister, Sarah Janice Horne.
Frankie requested to be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
