I started working for Ray Rakestraw in 1977 at the shop he ran at 1345 Bankhead when work got slow he took me across the street where I was introduced to Pete DuBose and Parks Powell and later met Mr. Taylor I worked with him several times in his overhauls till late I learned a very lot from those men but I had to leave Atlanta and Bankhead in 1987, I carry a vast knowledge of the welding trade thanks to the gentlemen mentioned but Glenn Taylor made it all possible for me.

I worked at Bankhead as my first job out of college. People listed below were some of my first bosses. Bobby Murphree, Lloyd Coursey, Ed Thompson. Mr. T. employed some of the finest people I have ever worked with. Rest in peace my friend.

SO SORRY TO FIND OUT ABOUT MR. TAYLOR. MY SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO ALL OF THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS, MARIE, GLENDA, AND JANICE, AND ALL OF THE GRAND CHILDREN. IT GOES WAY BACK TO THE 60'S. I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH JANICE AND WAS MYSELF A RESIDENT OF GROVE PARK. MR. TAYLOR WAS THE BROTHER'N LAW OF MY UNCLE, FRED COTTON, OF WHOM WAS ALSO THE BROTHER OF BEATRICE, OF WHO WAS A COTTON BEFORE SHE MARRIED MR. TAYLOR. MR. TAYLOR WAS A FINE AND UPSTANDING MAN. I WAS TALKING TO MY AUNT, WINNELLE COTTON, MR. TAYLORS SISTEN'N LAW AND I HAD ASKED ABOUT MR. TAYLOR AND SHE HAD INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD PASSED AWAY A FEW YEARS AGO. HOWEVER, I DID A COMPUTER SEARCH AND FOUND THAT HE HAS NOT EVEN BEEN DECEASED A YEAR YET. MY CONDOLENCES GOT OUT TO THE FAMILY AND I SURELY DO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND JUST HOW MUCH MR. TAYLOR WILL BE MISSED. HE ACCOMPLISHED ALOT IN HIS LIFE. MY AUNT EXPLAINED TO ME THE TIME WHEN HE FIRST STARTED WELDING AND BOUGHT A PICKUP TRUCK AND THEN MOUNTED A WELDER ON THE BACK OF THE TRUCK, AND THAT IS HOW BANNKHEAD WELDING GOT STARTED. I AM SURE THAT HE TOOK ALOT OF MEMORIES WITH HIM WHEN HE LEFT THIS LIFE. IT MAKES ONE THINK "LIFE IS NOT CERTAIN, BUT DEATH IS." WE HAVE TO DO GOOD HERE ON EARTH TO BE ASSURED A PLACE IN THE HEVANS, AND I KNOW THAT MR. TAYLOR SURELY HAS HIS PLACE MARKED IN THE GOD ALMIGHTY HEVANS ABOVE. GOD REST HIS SOUL.

My father, Bobby Murphree, worked for Mr. Taylor for over 40 years and sends his sincerest condolences to the Taylor family. My dad thought the world of Mr. Taylor as did I, meeting him on several occasions growing up and even visiting the Taylor farm a couple of years ago with my family. He will be remembered as a hero in my father's eyes. Unfortunately we just heard of the passing in December 2006, but still wanted to let you know we are thinking of your family.
Sincerely,
Paige Murphree Kincaid (Woodstock, GA) for

It was such an honor to have such a wondeful man in my/our family. Glenn was a cousin of mine, related through my grandfather. I'm not much with words, but I really don't think that matters right now. Glenn will be missed more than words could ever begin to express!

I have had the opportunity to go to the Taylor Farm on a few occasions and was amazed what a beautiful piece of property it is and how hard Glenn worked to keep it that way. Our sympathy goes out to family and friends of Mr. Taylor.

Our prays, thoughts and sympathy go out to your family. We know how much you will miss him. To us, Glenn Taylor was one of the greatest men that lived in our time. He did so much for so many and never expected to be recognized for the many deeds he did. He was one that provided jobs for many, many people and we thank him for this. I am sure many employees and former employees join us in expressing graditude to a Great American. We have been a part of the Bankhead Family for over 40 years and have many memories that we will always cherish. We will miss him as we feel he was part of our family also.

I am very sorry that I did not have a chance to visit with Glenn during the past month or so of his illness. Glenn was really someone very special to me as we worked together while he built an enterprise and fostered many others to do the same. He will always hold a special place in my memory.

Glenn Taylor was one of the truly great people of this world.
He was a visionary who put visions into action, was wise, courageous, optimistic, and generous; and was a strong leader who never exerted force.
He represented a tremendous influence for good in a wide area of Christian and civic endeavors, something from which there will be benefits for many years to come.
