Family-Placed Death Notice
BUCHANAN, Gordon Linton EVANS, GA - Mr. Gordon Buchanan, 65, beloved husband of Cynthia Buchanan, entered into rest on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Doctor's Hospital. In addition to his wife, Cynthia, he is survived by a son, Jacob Aaron Buchanan, a sister, Cyndy Weber and husband, Pete, his sisters in law, Gloria England and Joyce Baker, his nieces, Jessica Tuttle and Megan Teeter, his nephews, Brian and Andy Weber and David Fondren, mother and father in law, Esther and Herman Baker, step father, Gerald Rawlins and long time friend, Mike Sutton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon L. and Reatha Parrish Buchanan. Gordon recently retired from a long career as an Industrial Hygienist at the Savannah River Site. He loved people, fishing and selling snow cones. His greatest joy, however, was watching his son Jacob play basketball. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob's teammates from Evans High School and AAU. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Safe Homes of Augusta, 904 Merry Street, Augusta, Georgia, 30904, or to the Salvation Army, 1833 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia, 30904. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Platt's Belair Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until service time. I only knew Gordon through my daughter, Jennifer who worked with him for many years. She always spoke highly of him and that he was a friend to everyone he met. My deepest sympathy to all of his family; memories of times spent together will keep him in your hearts forever.
