Jay Hammer Obituary

HAMMER, Jay

It is with profound sadness that Karel Greenberg, beloved sister of Jay A. Hammer, shares his passing on October 15, 2024. Jay was born February 3, 1950 to the late Sylvia Bass and Harry Hammer of blessed memory. Jay was uncle to Alix (Rob) and Danielle; great-uncle to baby Gus; and brother-in-law to Frank. Jay loved to heal those in emotional and physical need all through his professional life. Thank you to all the care partners who watched over Jay these recent years.

May you rest and be at peace now, dear Jay.

I am so sorry for just now finding this out! I am even more sorry that life and circumstance often results in losing touch with friends. Jay was a friend and doctor to my entire family and we loved him! We carry his health teachings with us still today.

Jay was a beloved neighbor to my wife Anne and me. After his health failed him, we were sorry to lose touch with him. He was a wonderful and generous character, and full of life. We miss him!

`Dr Jay´ as our family so fondly referred to Dr Hammer, was truly loved by us and so many of his patients. His gentle manner and touch especially put the kids at ease, and we all relished an office visit for preventative care or ailments alike. We will continue to lift your family in prayer as you grieve the loss of your cherished one. May he rest in peace

Dr Jay Hammer was a fantastic friend, I met him in 1976. He wore a lot of hats in our friendship. He was my friend, my doctor, my health coach, my landlord, my designer and supporter ." He will be sorely missed" I feel so honored to have had Jay's long time friendship. May Grace and Peace be with you.

Dr Jay Hammer was my friend. I remember meeting him on his birthday when I was just a boy. I'd never seen anyone with so many friends. He opened his house each Sunday for friends to visit before he got too ill. He had an open house for visitors to spend the night if traveling. A very generous man. I moved away in 2019, only got to see him one more time. I'll never forget a man telling me that Dr Jay saved his daughter's life. Amazing. My life long friend (46 years) can rest in peace and I'm happy. God Bless.

Jay was a very important person in my life as I am sure he was in the lives of many. His early intervention and treatment when I was young probably saved me from a life of chronic illness. He was a mentor who became a friend. My career in health care is probably in large part due to him. May his memory be a blessing to his family and those who loved him and benefited from his care.
