Growing up in Athens, I was a year older than "Sweet John." We were Y boys together under Cobern Kelley & Pop Pearson. He was a wonderful boy who grew into a fine man. I always enjoyed visiting with him when we ran into each other.

I had the pleasure of working with John for many years at Greene Buckley Jones & McQueen. He was kind, true and considerate. He was always a delight to work with and most of all I LOVED his stories of fly fishing. I will keep you and yours in my prayers. In deepest sympathy, Nanette M Horrocks

I had the great pleasure of working with John for the past few years here at Hawkins Parnell Thackston & Young. I knew him to be a kind, considerate man who never walked by my desk without a cheerful greeting and warm smile. He was a good soul and he will be very much missed around the office. My thoughts and prayers go with his family.

I am saddened to learn of John's passing. Although I didn't know John very well, his sister Mary is a dear friend of mine. From all that Mary shared with me, I know that John was a special man....kind, generous, smart, loving...he possessed all the qualities one would want in a brother, a son, a husband, dad, granddad, uncle, or friend. My prayers are with you during this sad time.

It is with deep sadness that I read of John's passing. He was truly a sincere, kind man and a loyal follower of Christ. Although we are jouous in the assurance that John has joined the Church Triumphant, you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you face the coming weeks and months with many changes.
With love to you and your family,

Dear Margaret, Clair, Elizabeth, Jack, and Family,
It is with a great sense of loss that I send this note to you. There were few men as great and loved as John; how could one hear the name John and not think of love? Countless numbers of people will be holding all of you up in prayer - and thanksgiving - for days and years to come. Your John was truly a gift to so many.
With love,
