Joseph LoCicero Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

LoCICERO, Joseph Joseph Michael LoCicero July 26, 1963 - June 24, 2008 After a year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Joseph Michael LoCicero, passed on June 24, in Los Angeles, California at the age of 44. Joey was born in Tampa, Florida on July 26, 1963. The family moved to Georgia in 1969. He was a Stone Mountain High School graduate and attended the University of Georgia with a major in Journalism where he was also an active member of TKE fraternity. After stints at the AJC, Atlanta Zoo (Marketing), and Cohn & Wolfe (PR), he pursued his dream to live as a writer in Los Angeles. While in California, he infused tinsel town with some of his southern charm and creative wit. Joey married the love of his life, Lori Lewis in 1996, a native of Orange County, California. Joey is survived by Lori and their two precious children, Dalton Jeronimo (6), and Garcy Marisol (3); his mother and father, Joseph and Gloria LoCicero of Dacula, GA; his siblings, Richard J. LoCicero of Gainesville, GA; Suzanne M. McGinnis of Monticello, GA; and Kenneth A. LoCicero of Hoschton, GA. In addition, he has been loved and supported by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his California circle of friends and family. Joey was a creative genius with a caring and sensitive spirit, the likes of which may never cross paths with us again until we meet him in Heaven. He lived a full life in pursuit of his dreams. He was an idealist that believed and fought for all things good, a gifted chef, avid cake decorator, party planner, and writer extraordinaire. He cherished his family and was a devoted husband and father. His work on earth is done but his legacy of love, joy, and his creative spirit lives on in all of us. He will be missed each day. The body will be cremated and there will be a memorial to celebrate Joey's life in the coming months. Details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The LoCicero College Fund (Dalton and Garcy), Wells Fargo, 8814 S. Sepulveda, Los Angeles, CA 90045 or joelociceroscholarship.com.

It has been many years since I was around Joe, but he was one of my dearest friends during my college years. I just heard of his difficult struggles and I am stunned that someone as good as Joe has left us. I remember his passion, enthusiasm, and tenacity and always admired his ability to do it all. It appears that Joe continuted his awesome ways into his adult life. I will miss him and my family will say a prayer for the Locicero family tonight.

To the Locicero Family,
Words cannot express how deeply sadden I am at learning of Joey's passing. I have always cherished my friendship with Joey. When I think of my Sr. year at Stone Mountain, Joey is in the forefront of those memories. Moving to Stone Mountain that summer before my Sr. year was tough but finding a friend like Joey was awesome. As often in life it happens that we lose touch with friends from high school and that was the case with us but I was able to spend some time with him one Christmas several years ago when he brought Lorie and Dalton home for the holidays. I just remember feeling like the time had not seperated the friends we once were. May the Lord comfort you all in this time of loss and sorrow.

My sincerest sympathy is felt for all those who Joey touched. I was his roommate when we went to England and Scotland with the Young Singers of Callanwolde. I always felt honored that Joey befriended me. I can hardly believe that he is gone. Even though I lost touch with him in my adult life, I have many fond memories of knowing him, meeting his family, going to movies together...I found my pictures of him--he always had a smile on his face--accept for the time when his hair was wet! I am so sorry that I did not get a chance to continue our friendship, but I will remember him forever. Lee Cobb

To “Buffy” and the LoCicero Family,
I remember Joey as a sensitive and fun-loving student. I am honored to have taught him in high school. He brought many smiles and so much joy to our math class at Stone Mountain High. Please accept my deepest sympathy. God Bless.

Dear Suzanne, Adam and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow. Be joyful knowing that Joe is now sitting in the lap of his Heavenly Father. Although God didn't see fit to heal him here, he received the ultimate healing in Heaven. Although it is a sad day here, the angels of Heaven are celebrating. My prayers are with you and yours. Sincerely and God Bless, G. Ozburn

Paul and I extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Even though we did not know Joey personally, Sam told us many times about what a fine person he was. I know you have wonderful memories.
