For the Still Family -

Words can seem so inadequate to describe such a man. But perhaps over and above the talent, the skill, the professionalism, and the dedication, "humanitarian" will always stay in our precious memories of "Papa Joe". May God be with you all in peace and comfort. Know you are not alone.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Still and Sue from the time they arrived until I retired from the Hospital in 1985. My deceased husband Jessy and Dr. Still shared coffee and laughs every day in the cafeteria.

Please accept our condolences on your loss. I taught Sue and Gena in a Dale Carnegie Class some years ago. Gale and my wife, Janice, worked in Real Estate together and her husband, Scott, was a neighbor of ours when he was a boy. Dr. Still's passing is a great loss to the medical community but, in a more personal sense, it is a tragic loss to his family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at this time.

Dr. Still removed a benign tumor from my temple some 30 years ago when I was a toddler. This was obviously a stressful time for my parents, and Dr. Still left a very positive impression upon them with his skill and bedside manner. Over the years we have felt somehow attached and certainly proud when we read of the latest accomplishment of Dr. Still or one of his family. I give thanks to God for the positive role model Dr. Still was to our family.

Although I did not see Dr. Still on a daily basis, I will miss him dearly! He will always hold a very special place in my heart. He was a very generous man and he recieved much pleasure in sharing the blessings that the LORD gave to him with others. My family and I will always be appreciative to Dr. Still because many opportunities would not have happened in my life if it were not for him! My prayer for the family is that you will be comforted in the love of Christ. Because only Christ can help you walk the path that you now must walk. Psalm 23 and Romans 5:8

I only knew of Dr. Still through his departed son, a close friend of mine Steven Breazeale who was proud to have the Dr as his Father. His reputation as a Dr. and a Father was unbelivable and unforgetable. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and co-orkers.

Dr. Still was truly a great man. We are so fortunate to the burn center in our area. My brother was a burn patient of Dr. Still's in 1985. My family and I will never forget Dr. Still and he will always have a special place in our hearts.

February 4, 2006

In 1978 my 8 yr old son lost a portion of one finger and had damage to two others in a fan accident. Dr Still repaired his hand but I didn't have insurance with which to pay the bill. Being a cabinetmaker, Dr Still allowed me to pay him back by adding just a couple of cabinets to his office. This not only satisfied my debt but it lead to additional work over the years at his office for which he paid me for. I will never forget his generousity toward me and my son at a time of need. He was a gifted surgeon and a great man.
