LAWRENCE DOUGLAS PICKETT Lawrence Douglas Pickett (Larry) of Roswell, Georgia, age 49, went to be with Lord on October 9th, 2007. He was the loving and faithful husband of Gina M. Pickett and the proud father of his sons, Kyle Pickett, age 13 and Connor Pickett, age 10. He was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus in whom he trusted during his long illness with ALS (Lou Gehrig's). He loved the Lord with all his heart, a devoted student of God's Word and was committed to deepening his relationship with the Lord day by day. Larry was born August 1, 1958 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He grew up in Canton, MA and attended Barrington College, Barrington, RI with a B.S. Math & Computer Science in 1980. The son of Arthur C. Pickett of Sharon, MA (stepmother Mary Pickett), brother of Glenn A. Pickett (wife Julie) of Arroyo Grande, CA, David B. Pickett and Brad M. Pickett, both of Bridgewater, MA. He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa F. (Thibeault) Noonan of Canton, MA and also survived by his step-dad, Bud Noonan. Nephews and nieces are: Brian, Greg and Danny Pickett of MA, Joanna, Jacquie and Jon Pickett of CA; Sarah Bingham and Nathan Green of GA; Nicholas Hamrick, IL and Angelina Hamrick, Dominic and Alex Materiale of FL. Also survived by him are his sister-in-law, and her husband Michele and Corky Green, sister-in-law, Janice Materiale, and brother-in-law, and his wife Frank and Lina Materiale and mother-in-law, Janice Materiale. He faithfully served as Deacon at East Cobb Presbyterian Church in Marietta, Georgia. An avid athlete, runner and lover of sports, Larry was also a member of the Atlanta Amateur Hockey League (AAHL) and served on the AAHL Board of Directors. He was involved in his community and neighborhood. He worked as a computer engineer for HOPS International/Trap Systems of Miami Lakes, FL. Many people were impacted through his life and his illness. He will be remembered by many for his strong faith in Christ and his love of all New England sports, Go Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins! Visiting hours will be Friday, October 12, 4-8 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd. Roswell, GA. Graveside Services for family and close friends Saturday, October 13, 10:30 at Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA. A Celebratory Memorial Service will be on Saturday, October 13, 12:30, East Cobb Presbyterian Church, 4616 Roswell Road, NE, Marietta, GA with a reception for all to follow. The services will be performed by Pastor Wesley Horne. Donations may be made to the East Cobb Presbyterian Church, to Larry Pickett Fund for the benefit of Kyle and Connor Pickett.
