Lorraine Spaulding Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Lorraine A. Spaulding, 65, a retired counselor and teacher with the Art Institute of Atlanta for 38 years, died April 6, 2007 at Hospice Atlanta of lung cancer complications. Her husband John P. Spaulding preceded her in death. Lorraine was born in New York, NY and grew up in Floral Park, NY. She graduated Cum Laude from Georgia State University with a Bachelors of Social Work in 1985 and received her Masters of Science in Social Work in 1989. Lorraine was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta (UUCA), participating in the Lay Ministry and several other programs. Lorraine is survived by her daughter Linda M. Chester (Mark), Atlanta, GA and son Gary S. Maynard (Rebecca), Crestview, FL. Step-children John G. Spaulding (Susan), Louisville, CO, James B. Spaulding (Cathy), Alameda, CA, Joan S. Dormody (Tom), Las Cruces, NM, and Martha Spaulding (Paul), Jamestown, CO, three sisters Gladys Duval, Leominster, MA, Barbara Campbell, New Paltz, NY, and Suzanne Libfeld, Yorktown Heights, NY, and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Friday, April 20 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta, 1911 Cliff Valley Way, NE. The family requests that donations be sent to the UUCA Endowment Fund. Wages & Sons 770/469-9811
