I will miss you my friend. I'm glad your crossing was peaceful. May you and Robert have a joyous time together and we'll see you when we've finished up here.

Max was not a close friend, but he was a friend, and a fellow traveller in the fight for rights. He was there and had the time for me when we travelled and could meet up. I admired him greatly; his courage to stand up and be counted, his courage to be himself, and simply his courage to be trans when to be trans was the lowest form of life on earth. He was intelligent, erudite, and funny, and he cared for the LGB / Trans / alternative community and the people within it. He was also handsome and his smile was welcoming and catching. He is a great loss to not only us, but to the world as a whole. He made a difference for so many people, many who did not even know he was there doing his bit for them. We all owe him our gratitude, and our prayers of whatever sort. A very sad loss indeed.
