Melanie Wright Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Melanie Knight Wright, age 39, and her baby daughter, Abigail Ruth Wright of Cumming, GA, passed away November 20, 2005. Melanie was a graduate of Dunwoody High School and Furnan University. She was previously employed by Optio Software as a technical writer and received several awards for her work. Melanie enjoyed gardening, feeding birds and her cat, Theo. A child of God, Melanie grew up in Dunwoody Baptist Church where she was active in youth choir, later taught Sunday School and had a heart for helping people no matter what the need. She was a loving caregiver for her maternal grandmother and was the proud aunt of Grace and Caleb. Melanie attended Northpoint Community Church, involving herself as a nursery worker and small study group member. She worked together with her husband in his optometry practice. Melanie is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Travis Wright; her parents, Loy and Gloria Knight of Dunwoody; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Olyn and Brenda Wright of Pawleys Island, SC; her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Mark and Christy Knight of Lawrence, KS; niece, Grace Knight and nephew, Caleb Knight of Kansas; her uncle and aunt, Lee and Jackie Dollar of Los Angeles, CA; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brad and Tracy Wright of Columbia, SC; her great-grandmother, Ruth Dollar of Cairo, GA and countless relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, at 12:00 noon at Northpoint Community Church with her remains placed instate at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta or the Alzheimer's Association. You may express condolences on-line at www.mcdonaldandson.com.
