Paul Macik Obituary
Dr. Paul Macik passed away on November 3, 2021. He had been a bariatric surgeon at Northside Hospital since '99. He is survived by wife Danielle and daughters Olivia, Melani, and Peyton. His funeral service will be held on November 17, 2021 at the Cathedral of Christ the King at 10 AM.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Macik's passing three years ago. He was a skilled and gifted surgeon. He changed the lives of many including mine. I could never thank him enough for helping me open the door to my new life. To his wife and beloved daughters - please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Dr. Macik was my weight loss surgeon in 2011 when I was a depressed 18 year old weighing 360lbs. I was going to say what most say- that he gave me my life back. But a better description is that he gave me a life to begin with. The day he did my surgery was essentially the first day I began living, and while Dr. Macik wasn´t a touchy feely, particularly talkative or warm doctor, he was the best doctor at what he did. He made my life worth living when everyone around me had given up. I owe him so much and I wish I had told him this while he was still here. I´m not sure he would remember me, but I will always remember him and what he did for me. I´m so sad and sorry to hear about his passing. Thoughts and prayers for his family.

Dr. Macik, was my weight loss surgeon. No disrespect intended but, he wasn't overly friendly. If I looked for that I should have found another dr. What i prayed for was the BEST dr. and I got Dr. Macik. He was smart, knowledgeable and knew things about 'my'surgery I never thought of even with my extensive research. I was shocked when I tried to reach out to his office for an appt. God bless his family!

I learned today of Dr. Macik's passing. I'm so saddened to hear about this. I suffered for over 15 years with severe issues caused by abdominal adhesions. Dr. Macik was the only doctor to figure out what was actually going on with me and was the only doctor who was willing to help me with it. Literally improved my quality of life and probably even saved it. Though it has been a couple of years my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I´m devastated. Dr. Macik gave me my life back. He gave me so much pride and hope. I am devastated to hear of his passing and pray for solace and peace for all of his girls and his lovely wife, who he doted on often. Just wow, the world really lost an angel

I am so heartbroken to learn today that Dr. Macik has passed away. As so many others, because of his expertise and skill, he gave me my life back. My surgery was 2015 and i have not seen him for years. When i went for my 1 year follow up he didn't recognize me at all.... He was so excited! I loved his quiet gentle nature although i am very outgoing. I would purposely say things to get him to laugh.... Its like he wanted to busy a gut but he composed himself with a chuckle. It always did my heart good. I specifically remember him telling me in recovery that i needed to take care of my body because this was my only chance (sleeve) because i could never have it again. He repaired a hernia while in surgery i didn't even know i had. I had tons of skin tags and he removed those as well.... He joked after surgery and told me he removed 5lbs of skin tags! Haha. When he didn't remember me, i reminded him of this and he chucked and was like ... OH MY GOSH!!!
Many blessings to his daughters and wife! What a lovely human being he was! Im a bit late, but so effected by this news. RIP Dr. M. XO

I am at a loss for words...It's been 11 months since Dr. MACIK passed and I just found out. He did my bypass 4/23/2010...so sorry!!!

OMIGOSH, this is such a shock! Dr Macik did my gastric sleeve surgery in 2017. I hadn´t been able to have an in-person followup with him for two years because of the pandemic. I found out he had passed when I tried to set up an appointment, found his number disconnected, and was googling to find a new number for him. Then I saw his obituary.
He was an amazing surgeon. In my office visits with him, I could see him listening intently, evaluating. The surgery was perfect. I had NO pain afterward - didn´t need the pain meds I went home with. No trace of four tiny incisions across my midsection. And most importantly, all of the "plumbing" worked, and I lost more weight and kept it off. I´m just devastated at the news. I had wanted to thank him. He was too young to go already.

Dr. Macik! On April 21, 2005, he successfully performed my gastric bypass surgery thus saving my life!

My gratitude always for the man that changed my life. I walked into his office overweight with low confidence in 2016. Now 2022 and I am healthy and happy. As one person said below. I, like so many of his patients, continue to give Dr. Paul much appreciation for changing out lives in such a positive way. He was quiet guy, but very caring. He was in it for the right reasons and I am so upset to hear of his passing. I feel I have lost a close friend even that I only knew him as my doctor. I'm sure he is with God and at peace.

Which I had the honor of being one of his patients since 2009 when he performed my surgery. His kind voice will be remembered and as everyone says. He was was a man of very few words.
