Preston Moss Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

PRESTON BRADLEY "BRAD" MOSS 50, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away peacefully Thursday, May 15, after a year long, courageous battle with colon cancer. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Katherine Gasque, the son he adored, Dylan Gasque-Moss, 20, his aunt, Mary Huckaby, his "Second Mom" Kate Gasque, niece and nephew, Lindsey and Seth Gasque, and countless friends he considered family. Born in Atlanta, to Billy and Martha Moss, he grew up in Decatur where he graduated from Columbia High School in 1971. Brad attended the University of Georgia where his love of music began, working at the college radio station. He continued into the business working with the Great Southeast Music Hall and then as a club DJ, gaining the respect of his peers by being recognized year after year as one of the top spinners in the southeast. He moved into record label promotion working with such artists as: Jethro Tull, Pat Benatar, Was Not Was, David Cassidy, Sinead O'Connor, and a host of other artists and labels. As family life took precedence, he moved toward more mainstream business and has worked with Earthlink, Inc. as the Consumer Sales Manager for the past four years. This is a job Brad loved, always working on "a plan" and caring deeply about the people he worked with. We know he will miss showing up at work everyday, as they will miss his smile coming around the corner. Brad loved life, he loved adventure. He was never a man to take the paved road, but instead took the dirt roads to find a better view. The quote, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" applies to his life. With Katherine and Dylan, he skied in Colorado, hiked in Arizona, biked down from the top of a volcano in Hawaii and explored Indian ruins in New Mexico. Brad loved to travel, he loved the unknown and he loved sharing these trips with his family. His son was the light of his life, his pride in him was immeasurable as he watched him grow, never missing a moment to be involved in his life. And Brad's love for his wife, his true soulmate, was the powerful force that kept him strong through his last years fight against his cancer. Brad's wishes were to be cremated, and the celebration of his life was held at Saint Marks United Methodist Church at 5th and Peachtree on Sunday, May 18th at 4 p.m. The family received friends, following the service, in the Wade Fellowship Hall at the church for a time of story telling and refreshments as per Brad's desire. The family has chosen the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation for donations, an organization that hires the "young guns" of research medicine for this terrible disease. Contributions are tax deductable and 100% goes to research. To call toll-free 1-877-722-6237 or send to 675 3rd Ave., New York, NY 10017. Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 770-277-4550.

Dear Kat and Dylan,

I, too, went to Columbia High School with Brad. I just learned today of his passing. That the Bright Light that was Brad is no longer here with us saddens my heart.

In reading the column online, it's so wonderful to know that he never lost that sense of adventure and joy. We were in Drama Club together, and Brad ALWAYS kept us laughing! I never saw him have a down moment! Always jolly, Always happy and usually up to some kind of friendly mischief!

I am so sorry for your loss, but I hope that you can find comfort in knowing how much he meant to so many, and all the wonderful ways he touched our lives.

May God Bless and keep you.

I personally did not know Brad, but my son went to his celebration of life, Praise God, for Jesus, as He has given through Brad's family and funeral, a new out look on funerals.

May God Bless his family until they meet with Brad in heaven. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

I grew up with Brad at Martha Brown United Methodist Church in Atlanta. He was always the nicest and funniest guy - one that everyone loved. I've kept up with his work over the years and am so saddened by his death. My prayers are with you. Melinda Freeman Sileo

Katherine and Dylan,

I would like to share two verses that have given me comfort in times of grief:

Those who believe in Me, even though they die will live.

John 11:25

Prehaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost one pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God's Peace,

Katherine,

Brad told me once that he planned on marrying you in all 50 of the US states. As I think of this , I think of the great love he had for you.

I remember the beautiful pearls he gave you on your anniversary, and although you guys spent part of it with us, there was no doubt you were the only person in the room.

I loved Brad, he was my confidant in troubled times, and I appreciated that we were so often on the same page!

I am grateful I got to spend the time I did with him.

He will be in my heart, as will you and your family.
