After high school, he was signed by the Atlanta Crackers where he played the 1943 season followed by 2 years in the Navy at Great Lakes. His major league playing days were with the Boston Braves for three years, 1950 ñ 1952. I knew Roy and Alice as a young woman. They were part of my daughter Amanda's and my life for too short a time. I know that they were wonderful grandparents to Kristy Little and that Karol and her sisters loved him very much. Roy was a true people person which is why so many people will miss him. My heart and prayers go out to Karol, Linda and Patti at this time of sorrow. May happy memories sustain them and may he rest in peace reunited with Alice in a better place.

To the family and friends of the late Mr. Roy Hartsfield from a fan from Toronto.

So, so many have pride in their hearts for our home team, the Jays as well as the great family of people (managers, coaches, players) who believed the city could handle it! i remember the poster of your first season on our kitchen wall, there so we could all memorize the players names! An inspiring man and also the reason i stay home on Saturday afternoons.

Ross (my partner) and i send our deepest condolences and a warm embrace from your friends in Canada.

Although I didn't have the opportunity to get to know Roy personally, I do know he always brought a smile, laugh or twinkle of an eye to his daughter, Patti, whenever she spoke of him. My heart goes out to my dear friend, Patti, and all of Roy's family during this difficult time. I'm sure he'll get a hole in one in heaven!

Roy and Alice always the gracious and welcoming hosts. Show up at their home any time and you were greeted as though you had been expected for days. Also, favorite "Cowart cousins" and there are many. Aunt Cora (Roy's Mom) could always bring us up to date on the latest baseball stats for her sons. We grieve with all the family and remember Roy's wonderful life. Sincere sympathy. John Cowart, Jr., and Shirley
