Sally Angevine

ANGEVINE, Sally Brown

Sally Brown Angevine was born October 16, 1952, and passed away after a long three-year battle with cancer. She died October 23, 2025. She was 73 years old. Her family moved from Birmingham, in February 1956, and settled in the rural area known as Sandy Springs. Sally graduated from North Springs High School in 1970, attended college at Truett-McConnell and graduated from Georgia State with a degree in early childhood education. She taught school in Fulton County for 31 years and was named Teacher of the Year in 2001-2002 at Highpoint Elementary.

Sally was predeceased by her parents, Lyall Angevine and Florence Angevine James; and her brother, Bill Angevine.

Sally lived in condos in Buckhead, and she made many friends and served on the homeowner's Board of Directors. Later she moved to her forever home, a nice cottage in the Oak Grove Road area. Upon her retirement, Sally spent hours baking and was well known for her delicious cookies. Sally volunteered to cook at Open Hand and then became a foster parent for rescued homeless dogs. She kept 81 dogs in all and volunteered with Angels Among Us, the pet rescue organization in Atlanta.

Sally was a active member of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir and worked in Vacation Bible School. Later she worked as a volunteer in the church office.

Sally is survived by her sister, Susan McKessy (Dan) of Fripp Island, SC; brother, Harry Angevine (Betty) of Atlanta. Other relatives include nephew, Dan Council and wife, Katie and children, Lizzie and James of Roswell; and stepfather, Bob James of Sandy Springs.

Sally's burial will be private, family only. The memorial service will be held Monday, October 27, at 11 AM, at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, at 2715 Peachtree Rd., Atlanta GA 30305.
