Shirley Siegel

1926 - 2018

Shirley was born in 1926 in Philadelphia, 5 minutes before her twin sister, which commenced a deep and lifelong love of family. Her parents, Rose and Louis Goodman, brother, Howard Goodman, and sister Helen Goodman Browdy, moved to Atlanta when she was in her late teens. She developed a close-knit circle of friends whose associations continued for the remainder of their lives. She married Harold Siegel, Atlanta native, in 1949 and had two children, Dennis and Linda. She has three wonderful granddaughters - Rebecca, Michelle and Hannah - who reside in New York, Florida, and Maryland, respectively and was looking forward to meeting her soon-to-be born great granddaughter, Hallie Kukin. Shirley was well known for her incredible baking skills, biting sense of humor, and providing care taking for so many family members and friends. Shirley was a member of Shearith Israel for over 60 years. She spent her recent years at the Renaissance on Peachtree, and was appreciative of her caretakers whom she repaid with her affection, humor, and candy bars won playing bingo. Her family deeply appreciates the caregivers who assisted her through her final days. Shirley is survived by her daughter Linda Siegel (Rabbi David Kuperman) and son Dennis Siegel (Suzi); grandchildren Rebecca Siegel (Will Kukin), Michelle Siegel, and Hannah Kuperman; and twin sister Helen Browdy.
