Stephen Goss Obituary
Goss was appointed to the Court of Appeals in August 2018 by then-Gov. Nathan Deal. Before that appointment, he had served as a Superior Court judge in Albany for nearly 20 years.
Following the news of his death, Gov. Brian Kemp offered his support to the Goss family.
"A native Georgian, trusted counsel, and man of integrity, Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Goss will be sorely missed by countless people across our state and nation," Kemp said in a tweet. "The Kemp family asks God to give comfort to his loved ones, friends, and colleagues in this difficult time."

Judge Goss was an awesome and fair man who believed in the greater good. He oversaw my husbands custody/visitation/child support and made sure things were as fair as they could be within the law. We had to go back before him again and he was the same fair person. Very reliable & believed in family. Very saddened by this news and I pray he is at peace and wish his family sincere condolences.

Words fail at times like these. When something like this happens in a moment, only a moment, what you thought you knew clearly, with certainty, becomes grey and distorted and confused and the world just doesn't make sense. The loss of Judge Goss is such a moment. He was a remarkable man. His life touched so many people in so many positive ways. He will be missed. Prayers to his family there are no words only shared tears. Prayers to his court family, community, and the state of Georgia, they have lost one of their best.

I knew Judge Goss in my work as a Paralegal in the Dougherty County Courthouse, and he was an instructor of an online Paralegal Studies class I had at Darton College.
