Family-Placed Death Notice

THOMAS WILLFRED WARREN June 30, 1916-May 31, 2004 Mr. Warren of Roswell was born in Atlanta to Walter Preston Warren and Nellie McDuffie. The family moved to Athens, GA where his father was Assistant Registrar to his uncle, Tom Reed, Registrar of the University of Georgia.Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Christ United Methodist Church with the Revs. C. W. Savage, Ed Cook and Rev. Dr. Jim Powell officiating. Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Atlanta, GA.He attended the University of Georgia and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Nu 234 Zeta and of the Georgia Glee Club. He was commissioned an Army Lieutenant, which he resigned to join the Navy, attaining the rank of First Class Petty Officer. He was stationed in London, England Naval Communications attached to the American Embassy-Grosvernor Square. He survived the German V-2 and V-5 German rocket bombings of London for almost four years, being discharged November 1945.After the war he attended The Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, NY and the Art Students League. He was called to Guantanomo Bay, Cuba during the Korean War. He served as Georgia and Florida State Manager for the Pabst Brewing Company of Milwaukee, retiring after 25 years.He was a member and past president of the Burns Club of Atlanta and past vice-president of the St. Andrews Society. He was a LTC in The Old Guard, Atlanta Gate City Guard, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Clan Buchanan Society, American Legion Post 201 and the Christ United Methodist Church.Mr. Warren is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Warren; daughter, Mary Jane Stone & husband, Lincoln; son Huss Beutell & wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Nicholas Warren Beutell; Miranda Louise Beutell; nieces, Theresa Wells (Ed); Nettie Kimble (Joe); nephews, Robert R. Combs, Benjamin Gordon and many great nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to: Christ United Methodist Church, 1340 Woodstock Road, Roswell, GA 30075 or Robert Burns Club of Atlanta, c/o Scott Henwood, 2247 S. Springwood Drive, Decatur, GA 30033. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
