EDGEWATER, Colo. - Brian M. Gibbs, 43, of Edgewater, Colo., and formerly of King Ferry, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at his home in Colorado.
He was born in Auburn, the son of Davis and Linda Minturn Gibbs and had resided in this area until his employment brought him to Colorado almost 20 years ago. Brian was a Southern Cayuga graduate, class of 1992. He would become an X-ray technician for several years at Cayuga Medical Center and Auburn Memorial Hospital. While living in Colorado, Brian was employed at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish with his friends. Brian especially enjoyed and was most happy cruising around on his Harley motorcycle. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to get to know him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Linda Minturn Gibbs and her husband, Steven, of Auburn; father, Davis Gibbs, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven siblings, Christine Gibbs, Kevin (Mary) Gibbs, and Kathryn (Christopher) Pedley, all of Auburn, Shawn (Melissa), of Iowa, Lorraine Gibbs, of Auburn, Todd (Gina) Gibbs, of Amsterdam, N.Y., and Keith (Jackie) Gibbs, of Auburn; as well as several nieces, nephews, and uncountable friends both here and Colorado. Several of these friends were more like family since Brian had a heart of gold and was a pure gentleman. He touched so many people that refer to Brian as their "best friend."
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fleming Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Brian's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
