C. Alan Bouley
OWASCO - C. Alan Bouley, 95, of Owasco, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 17, 2024.
He was born in Boston, MA the son of the late, William E. and Zella (Gauthier) Bouley and resided most of his life in the Auburn area.
Alan or "Al" as he was affectionately known, was an Army Veteran, serving our country honorably during the Korean War.
A graduate of Auburn's East High School, Al continued his education and graduated from Assumption University.
Upon graduating from college, Al joined the family construction business eventually becoming the Owner and CEO of William E. Bouley & Bouley Companies. The Bouley Companies were one of the largest and most successful contractors in CNY for many decades. Al would check into the office until recently, hoping to mentor the next generations of the Bouley Companies.
Al contributed time and resources to many local and state entities, building trade and Veteran organizations. He served on many bank boards, chamber boards, and many other local not-for-profit entities. Al was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
There are so many beautiful memories from their family home at 83 Lake Ave., Fire Lane 4 in Owasco along with Juno Beach, FL, Martin Point, the golf course and tennis courts.
He always had an ear for not only music but for his friends and family to listen and advise without judgement and with heatfelt words. Whether it was business, beers, stocks, health fads, a piano, a banjo, an accordion, or a harmonica he always had the perfect thing to say or play. No matter the time of day, you could walk in and find him at the piano playing and singing the classics. Out of all his forms of entertainment, showing his grandkids and great-grandkids his famous quarter in ear trick was favorited by all, especially Big Al.
Al lost his wife, Francine, whom he held most dear to his heart, in April 2021. Together they raised six children: Chris Anne Shutter-Moran, Mary Ellen Moochler (Barry), Charles A. Bouley, Jr. (Jessica), Cynthia Bouley-Dempsey, Timothy P. Bouley, Daniel D. Bouley, 18 beloved grandchildren; 20 beautiful great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, James K. (Betsy) Bouley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Fran, Al was also predeceased by an infant son, William, two brothers: Terrence J. Bouley and William E. Bouley, Jr.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Al's personal caregivers for their exceptional care that was shown to their father during his recent illness.
Al's mass of Christian burial will be held this Wednesday at 4:00 PM on May 22, 2024, in St. Mary's Church on Clark Street. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:45 PM in the church prior to the mass.
Al was a very generous man in helping many local and national agencies and the family would appreciate any donations that may be made in his memory to the Owasco Fire Department , a local Veteran's agency or a charity of your choice.
