I remember Carl from my younger years growing up on Delevan St., just two blocks from he and his family. His name was in the forefront during these years for his feats while on the city swim team and from his being a member of the YMCA. He was one of those guys whose name kept running through my memory as the years passed, and now I sadly read of his passing. I will pray for him but there can be no doubt that he has earned a place in the Heaven we believe in and pray for. To his family, now is the time to Trust God.

I don't know what to say here except that I will miss my grandfather. He wasn't often in my thoughts, but he didn't need to be. Whenever I did think of him, it was always positive. He had a good effect on my life, and taught me a lot about being able to tell when people were full of it. I do kind'a wish his fishing lessons had stuck better... I'm really quite awful at it.

I am saddened to hear of Carl's passing. The Valentino family gave me a rich and loving home away from home many years ago at a time when that meant everything to me. Nobody ever worked harder at anything than Carl, even at relaxing -- I've never seen a more determined fisherman. I've always appreciated that example. He had a quiet, almost sneaky, sense of humor -- I still use many of his sayings and phrases and always strive to emulate his ability to characterize (especially the foolish and the pompous) with a succinct and deadly accuracy. I am grateful that I knew him and his family.

Cathy & Family: I was shocked to hear of Carl's passing. I didn't reliaze he was so sick. In fact just found out last weekend that he wasn't well. If I can find a ride (don't drive out of town anymore) I will try to make the services. My deepest sympathy to all of you. He was a wonderful cousin.
