To Carl's Family; I am truly sad at Carl's passing. I had known Carl from about 1950. We enjoyed many times at a variety of activities, especially our favorite of coin collecting. I visited Carl when I made trips to Auburn & we talked about the "good old days" What an honor it was to know a wonderful person such as Carl.Good-bye my friend

We will keep you in our prayers Carl as you journey to the next world, and a better one.
I was stationed at SP Waterloo when Carl was an Investigator there and worked with him many times picking up prisoners from other areas that had committed crimes in our area involved in cases that Carl was working on and learned from him. I was still there when he came back to "E" Troop as a Uniform Captain and always found him a fair man.
Some of the best times I spent with Carl were fishing on Cayuga Lake, one time fishing for Strawberry Bass with fly rods and small poppers, great fun and lots of laughs. Another time we were fishing for smallmouth bass and Carl cut the motor on the boat and began rowing very slowly toward a very weedy spot and he told me to cast just to the left of it as he had lost a big bass a few days before right around that area, and on about the 2nd or 3rd cast I was able to catch that same bass he had lost since it still had the jig Carl had made with a black rubber worm in its mouth and it was a big one just as he said. I was using one of his black rubber jigs at the time and I still have it in my tackle box. Lots of fun with a man that enjoyed life. My hat is off to you Carl!!!!!!!
May your family find comfort in knowing how your coworkers felt about you.......

With my Deepest Sympathy...Carl & I first worked together in 1955, when he was in Auburn and I was in Elbridge. I had the privilage of meeting his mother. We lived a half mile apart in Seneca falls and worked togther for several years in the BCI at Waterloo. We continuued to hook up with each other other over the years until our retirement.

A fine public servant who did duty with class and honor leaves us better for his efforts. Captain Griffin was a big man in many ways, highly intelligent and comfortable in his own skin his compassion was enormous and squarely used for the public good.

Our condolences to the Griffin Family.
Carl was an outstanding Captain as a member of the New York State Troopers.
He was a very smart gentleman with a good sense of humor. He loved his family, his job and was a great boss. I was under his command in 1973. One of the "good" guys. We will all miss him. I saluter you, Carl.

Our deepest sympathy to the Griffin family. Carl was my BCI Captain in 1973 and a good friend.
An intellectual, with deep compassion for humankind and a fine leader. I miss our conversations. A true gentleman. We will miss you, my friend.

I first met Carl when I was a uniform Trooper, Troop "D" Oneida, NY. I was interviewing for a position in the BCI. About half way through the interview he got up from his desk and walked behind me. I was answering his question and after a minute or so, hearing heavy breathing, I looked around and he was doing situps on the floor.
Carl was a good friend and great man that I will miss seeing around Auburn.

Carl and I were on the job together, he managed to yell about my long hair many times. But over the years, his hair was longer than mine ever was. Meeting at Wegman's, we laughed about that and I would tell him to get a haircut.I'll miss him.

Carl - "Carlo" - was absolutely one of the most caring and somewhat impatient people I have ever known. I always thought it was pretty darn funny how little patience he had with his computer. The lights were blinking like crazy, and Carl insisted the computer wasn't working! Several years ago, he decided - all of the sudden - to buy a new one. After I copied his data to the new computer, he tried it for about five minutes and then decided that he didn't like the new computer after all! I had to remove his data, and he promptly returned the computer to the store. Carl had a great sense of humor, too. I remember him showing me a book he said he wrote "All I know being a State Trooper". I opened the book, and all the pages were blank! - I am going to miss him "Carlo", his calls and e-mails and the question "when are you coming down".
