AUBURN - Charles J. Skibo, 84, of Dennis Street, Auburn, died Oct. 23, 2003, in Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Skibo was born in Auburn, the son of Andrew and Anna Skibo, and was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, where he served as an usher. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion Post 1107. Mr. Skibo was a mechanic, retiring in 1982 from Robinson Concrete. Prior to that, he worked for Red Star Trucking and owned and operated Skibo Auto Wrecking.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Helena E. Cahalan Skibo of Auburn; a son, James C. Skibo and his wife Sharon of Auburn; a daughter, Linda Judson of Auburn; three grandchildren, Andrea Skibo of Auburn, Pamela Devine and her husband Thomas of Springfield, Va. and Stacey Judson of Rochester; three great-grandchildren, Devon and Brianna Devine, and Jared Springstead; two sisters, Mary Leja of Auburn and Stella Wilczek of Sun City, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Julian Skibo.
Calling hours were Oct. 24, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 9 a.m. today, Oct. 25, in St. Alphonsus Church, with the Rev. Louis Vasile, pastor, as celebrant. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming.
