David Curtiss Vunk
April 6, 1968 - Oct. 24, 2023
AUBURN - David Curtiss Vunk, 55, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at his home. David was born April 6, 1968 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Albert Curtiss and Nancy Dunn Vunk (Murray).
David's early childhood was spent in Fishhouse, NY, but in 1976 the family moved to Skaneateles, NY. He was a graduate of Skaneateles High School and was employed at both the Sherwood Inn and Blue Water Grill.
David loved to draw and was a very talented artist. He loved cats, was an avid collector of model trains, planes and boats and was also a fanatic about anything to do with the Titanic, both the movie and the history behind the storied vessel.
David is survived by his siblings: Katherine Newsum (Clifford "Cliff") and Martin Maaloumi; as well as his dear friends: housemates, Guy, Billy and McKenzie, the Wiles family, the Majors family, Dave Couch, Colleen Nickerson, the Dempsey Family; and his friends both at the North Street Dayhab as well the Mozaic staff: Brandy, Christian, Steve, Kelly and John, Matt, Rebecca, Linda, Kirstin, Marisa, Kristal, Kelly U, Stacey, Ashley, Jessica, Billie Jo, Cindy, Christine, Terra, Mike, Gary, Alex, Kayla, Marjorie, indeed, his entire Mozaic Family.
Calling hours for David will be conducted Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the White Chapel Funeral Home, Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn. A memorial service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., following calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in David's memory to Mosaic, 1083 Waterloo Geneva Road, Waterloo, NY 13165, for recreation and activities for the residents and clients.
