CENTREVILLE, Va., - George B. Hamberger, 70, of Centreville, Va. died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, in Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hamberger was born in Auburn, the son of the late Arnold J. and Theresa Seiwert Hamberger and has resided in Northern Virginia since 1974. Prior to that he lived in Auburn.
Mr. Hamberger was a multi-talented person. He was a self-employed general contractor and was previously employed by Hamberger Enterprises and the New York State Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Navy Reserve.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth A. Hamberger of Culpeper, Va.; one daughter, Sharon H. Kropp and her husband, Mark of Manassas, Va.; a brother, Frederick A. Hamberger and his wife, Lynda, of Auburn; two sisters, Jane Frohwein of Newark and Gail Williams and her husband, Richard, of Binghamton; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hamberger of Penfield; a brother-in-law, Alan Drennan of Auburn; two grandchildren, Gregory and Denise Kropp of Manassas, Va.; a close companion, Carol Brasze of Centreville, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hamberger was predeceased by two brothers, Arnold J. Hamberger Jr., and Richard G. Hamberger; and a sister, Patricia Drennan, who died several years ago.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn, with the Rev. Leroy W. Kettinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends are invited to call 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
