AUBURN | Gloria A. Sarofeen, 85, of Auburn, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Auburn Nursing Home. Gloria was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Salem and Anna LaHood and resided there all of her life. A lifelong poet and loving comedienne, Gloria worked with her husband, John, running the ice cream shop and luncheonette called the Marion Margaret for many years. She also was a life insurance agent for MetLife and a realtor for Tuxill Real Estate. She was the president of the Altar Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Church, and enjoyed participating in the Toast Mistress Club and many other organizations. She will be remembered mostly for being an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is seven children, Anne Adessa, Michael Sarofeen and his wife, Gerri, Joseph Sarofeen and his wife, Carole, Deborah Drew and her husband, Richard, Joan Dziedzic and her husband, James, Gloria Hage and her husband, Mark, and John Sarofeen and his wife, Christina; one brother, Marvin Lahood and his wife, Margie, of Amherst, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gloria A. Sarofeen was predeceased by her husband, John Sarofeen, who died in 1996; her two sisters, Lillian LaHood and Florence Edwards; two brothers, Herbert and Victor LaHood.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial which will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn.
Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Gloria A. Sarofeen.
