AUBURN - James Lawrence Daly, Jr., 81, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Commons on St. Anthony surrounded by family. Larry was born in Auburn on August 7, 1943, to the late James L. Daly, Sr. and Hazel M. (Guy) Daly.
Larry retired from Auburn Correctional Facility after twenty six and a half years of employment as a Correction Officer.
Larry was involved in youth baseball in Auburn and Union Springs area. Larry coached pony league, little league, and babe ruth for fourteen years. Larry was also an avid deer hunter who passed this along to his beloved sons. Larry enjoyed the outdoors whether coaching, hunting, or playing golf with friends.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, of 60 years, Gloria (Buzik) Daly; his children, Michael Daly (Mary Jo); her two sons, James (Kelly) Daly; her two daughters, and children; and Shawn (Ashley) Daly; grandchildren, Alex (Garrett) Fry, Amanda Daly (John Paul), Jamison Daly, Meara Daly, and Trey Walker; great-grandson, Declan James; Larry's siblings, Anne McClary, Nell (Bob) Mittiga, and Ted (Chrissy) Daly; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Wright, Agnes Matro, and Diane Ellis.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. Services to immediately follow at 6 p.m.

Grew up with Larry in Throop. He was always kind to me and a true friend. There were six of us who grew up together. They're all gone now, except me.

I was so sad to learn of Larry´s passing. I haven´t seen him in a long time, but will remember fondly of all the good times we had together at USCS and at our
reunions. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am currently in FL so I can´t be there in person. I will be thinking of all of you.

I worked with Larry at Cayuga Correctional Facility for a few years and he taught me a lot and I would fill in on his job assignments when he would take time off. Larry also encouraged me to take up the game of Golf and he also taught me a lot of playing the game to which I still enjoy to this day. May Larry rest in peace and my condolences to his family.
