John Manzone Obituary

AUBURN - John F. Manzone, 75, of 36 Nelson St., Auburn, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 5, 2009, in Auburn Memorial Hospital. He was born in Auburn on April 1, 1934, the son of the late Joseph and Philamenia Impaglia Manzone and had been a life resident. He was a communicant and very active in Holy Family Church. John was an Army veteran, having served our country during the Korean War era. Prior to his retirement, John had been employed for many years by NAPA in Skaneateles and also had worked for more than 10 years for the Cayuga County Highway Department. He was a member of the Sons of Italy. John was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees sports fan. He is survived by two daughters, Marianne LaSalle and her husband, Al, of Henrietta, Deborah Franczak, of Auburn; a sister, Marlene Marinelli and her husband, Angelo, of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Deanna, Jeffrey, Brian, Matthew, Timothy, Melissa, Ryan, Chelsea; two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Kayley; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Dolores Tortorello Manzone in December 2008; a daughter, Maria Colvin; a sister, Joanne Iacobelli; and a brother, Peter Manzone. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 12:30 p.m. today, in Holy Family Church for John's Mass of Christian burial, with the pastor, the Rev. Dennis Shaw, as celebrant. Calling hours are this morning from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. (Note change in hours.) In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to Huntington's Disease Association of America (HDSA), Upstate NY Chapter, PO Box 25237, Rochester, NY 14625.
