HOPKINS, Minnesota - Margaret Rodak Walsh, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Jupin) Rodak of Skaneateles Falls, died on Jan. 5, 2017 at St. Therese Memory Care Center, Hopkins, Minnesota at the age of 90. Margaret attended Skaneateles High School and graduated from Culver Academy of Beauty Culture in 1948. She was previously employed at the Hotel Syracuse and various salons in western New York throughout her career.
She was married to the late John D. Walsh, Jr. of Auburn, N.Y. in 1952 and moved to Mayville, N.Y. and later to Fredonia, N.Y. where she remained for 48 years. In 2006, she moved to Minnesota to be with her daughter.
During her residency in Fredonia, Margaret was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society and often provided haircuts and other salon services to homebound parishioners to boost their spirits.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Dianne Walsh Astry (Douglas Astry) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Jacqueline Walsh Carmona (Franklin Carmona) of Troy, Michigan. She had four grandchildren, whom she adored, L. Jonathan Astry, Lauren Astry Sorensen (Mark Sorensen), Erin Carmona and Colin Carmona.
A Mass and Christian burial from St. Joseph Church, Fredonia, N.Y. will be celebrated on Jan. 14, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Senior Citizen Pet Fund c/o Mission Animal Hospital, 10100 Viking Dr., Eden Prairie, MN 55344 or the Angel Fund c/o North Hills Veterinary Hospital, 300 W. Tienken Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48306.
