Raymond Meyers Obituary

Raymond Meyers

April 27, 1934 - January 29, 2025

Raymond ("Unc") Meyers transitioned to the great wide open on January 29th. A lifelong resident of Auburn, Ray was a larger than life figure whose presence touched many lives. Whether it was at the Hammond & Irving office, tearing up the dance floor at a wedding, or tipping a cold one at the kitchen table, one could appreciate the essence of Ray. You knew where you stood when Ray was around because he never minced words but would look you in the eye and tell you straight out what he thought. Ray would speak his mind and sometimes offer criticism but would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Ray was as compassionate as he was tough. And, if a person would become rude or obnoxious, Ray would happily show you the door.

Ray was a true Renaissance man. He attended West High School and was the valedictorian of his class. He created decoupage and remodeled most of his home by himself. His fondness for cooking and baking led to many others in his life enjoying his culinary creations. He had a love of cars that began with a 1960's purchase of a Pontiac GTO he'd cruise around in … along with many other notable vehicles he bought during his lifetime. His hobbies were varied and unique.

Ray was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters. He is survived by several nieces and nephews who fondly referred to their uncle simply as "Unc." Ray lived his life in the manner of that memorable Frank Sinatra song. So let the record show he took the blows and did it HIS way. A small gravesite ceremony honoring Ray's life will be held for family and friends in the spring.

Thank you for being there for us and for being part of all our lives Ray / Unc. You will be missed!

my condolences go to Ray´s family. I worked with Ray at H&I, he was always there to help everyone. He was such a gentleman, great cook, entertainer, and an awesome dancer. His obituary nailed it to a T. He truly was one of a kind. Save a dance for me, Ray until we meet again. Linda Kmyta Gentilcore

Condolences to Ray's family and friends. Ray brought life to the party, often the last leave. I will remember his art , cooking , beautiful home and poolside tan.
