Robert Novak Obituary

Robert F. "Huck" Novak, 95, of Sennett, N.Y., passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Malek), truly the love of his youth, to whom he was married an incredible 69 years. To the very end she was his "Dolly" and they patiently and affectionately loved each other in a way most people can only dream about. He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Fitch of Fleming, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rob was predeceased by his parents: Frank and Bernadine (Killian) Novak, of Fleming; a sister, Kathleen Casler of Auburn; his parents-in-law: Frank and Wanda (Wojciechowski) Malek; and two brothers-in-law: Robert and Richard Malek.
Bob was a graduate of Union Springs High School. Between starting as an employee and being an owner/operator, Rob worked at the B.E. Hedges Company in Auburn for almost 50 ears.
He was quick with a smile and quietly generous to many individuals and organizations, that only he and they will ever know about. He loved his bluebirds that he coaxed and fed year round in his backyard, as well as all things outdoors; gardening, his lawn tractor and his fruit trees.
Rob enjoyed photography, and golf, he traveled extensively with his wife Dolores to Europe many times, Canada, Japan and the continental United States. He loved trains, both traveling on them as well as model trains. He was a long time member of the Cayuga Valley Model Railroad Club. He was also an avid SU basketball fan for decades
German Shepherds were another passion he shared with Dolores, and he was especially thankful at one point to own 3 generations from the same litter, Grandma, Mother and baby boy puppy, all at the same time.
Rob was especially thankful to the team of caregivers that helped him and Dolores stay home together until the very end. They truly loved and adored each other.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm in Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Rd., with Bob's Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his honor to one of his favorite organizations, Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Hi Dolores,
I have always been so great full for Bob giving me a chance to work at BE Hedges. I learned so much. Charlie was great also and taught me a lot. I always remember the salt blocks. Sorry I missed yesterday the 30 th. I thought I was told Saturday. I wanted to see everyone in the family. My condolences to you, and all of your family. Especially cally the Fitch family.
