Dear Ellen and the Schumacher family,
I was truly taken back when I heard the news of Steve's passing. Barb Abel shared this with me last Monday.
I had always hoped to see you both at one of the few renunions that have taken place. I believe that last time I saw either of you was unfortunately at our graduation. This saddens me as Steve meant a lot to me. Our friendship started in 10th grade and continued through to graduation. He was such a funny, loving, and kind person. The world needs more people in like Steve.
Although so many people will miss Steve, he is in a better place where there is no pain or suffering.
Please accept my sincerest sympathy to all of you.

Family and Friends of Steven:
I have had the pleasure of knowing Steven for over the past year. During our many visits, Steven entertained me with his quit wit and good humor. He was a man of many talents, and he loved to share his knowledge of gardening, quilting, and cooking, among other things. His apartment was a testament to his artistic and open nature, where he used a variety of colors to decorate and create a welcoming environment. He proudly displayed his many homemade crafts, and shared them as well. Every time Steven walked into a room, others took notice. He exuded a positive aura and could light up a room. I will truly miss that light.
Sincerely.

To Steven's family,
I considered Steven to be a friend, and his sudden loss came as quite a shock. Steven and I attended several seminars together, and he even had dinner with me and my friend Rosanne on a few occasions. My deepest condolances for the loss of Steven, his exuberance will be missed.
