Auburn has lost a legend - one who never will be forgotten. I first met Mr. Noonan when I was just a grade school kid. I would listen to he and my Dad (and many other kid's Dads)talk sports during my visits to the Knights of Columbus, usually after Mass on Sundays. Whether it was Notre Dame, The Cleveland Browns, The Philadelphia Phillies or a highly touted prep star from Anytown, USA signing a national letter of intent, Mr. Noonan knew every detail. I would leave asking my Dad, "how does one man know so much about so many different things?" But I think his greatest pleasure came from following and enjoying the local athletes who were excelling at the time. He always knew who had played a good game or who was having a championship season. As a kid growing up, those are memories that last a lifetime.
God Bless you Mr. Noonan, I will be thinking of you on Sunday's, once again talking sports with many of the Dads, probably after Mass.
With Fond Memories,
Eddie Kolo

The passing of Mr. Noonan is certainly a loss for Auburn and Notre Dame football. He was a good friend of my dad's and got me started in organized baseball many years ago.
There was no one that I know that knew more about high school football nationwide and whether they would be a good fit for ND!. He had a strong Catholic faith and his smile and friendship will be missed by me and many others.
Now he will have more influence over ND and maybe they will win another national championship!!

We were sorry to hear of Billy's passing. He was certainly was an "Auburn Legend". His passionate interest is sports and politics sparked many memorable conversations.
We remember seeing him suddenly start running as he walked South Street. I can almost see him and Gene Donahue having a grand ND discussion.....
Thanks for the memories Billy

I am truly going to miss Mr. Noonan! Who else will walk in the door of the library and greet me by saying, "look who's here....the Obama-Loving Democrat"? He made me laugh with his "corny" political jokes, he was a character..Go Notre Dame!!!!
Fondly,

Billy was a true Legend of Auburn as Ormie Kingmight say. I am sure God holds a special place for him in the ND wing of heaven. He was a special favorite of my Dad from his time coaching football at Holy Family and the subject of many stories. Our prayers and thought are with his family.

Tom & Jance - Billy was a great man. We enjoyed seeing him at the boys baseball games and always listening to him talk about the Y-field. I am glad we had the opportunity to see him at Colleen's graduation.
Our deepest sympathy.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Billy was an icon - I enjoyed listening to his great knowledge on so many topics. ( I may not have agreed with him 100%)- but grew from his knowledge Helen Delaney

I was so saddened to read of Billy's passing. He was very charming, and though our politics differed, we sure did love to talk about them! My most sincere sympathy to all his family. He was a great Irish man!!! I'll always remember his saying- "All Irish are democrats til they get to the bank!"
