Wesley Mills Obituary
MENTZ - Wesley Stephen Mills, 74, passed away on Oct. 8, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Syracuse.
He was the son of the late Ruth Alice and Stephen Leroy Mills. He was a graduate of Port Byron Central School in 1961 and was a lifelong resident of the town of Mentz and Cayuga County. He served in the Air Force as a photo intelligence research specialist. After learning computer programming at ECI in Rochester, N.Y., he was a computer operator in the early days of business computer activity. An associate's degree in transportation management was obtained at the Columbia Commercial College in South Carolina, and he worked in the truck transportation business.
He is survived by three sisters, Carrie Dudley, Phoebe Peacock and Evalyn Taylor, and one brother, Loring Mills.
He was predeceased by a brother, Clifton Mills.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church, South Street, Port Byron. Services will be held at 3 p.m. in the church. Interment with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Throop.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Port Byron Library, P.O. Box 520, Port Byron, NY 13140 or the Port Byron United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 344, Port Byron, NY 13140.
