AUBURN | Yolanda Marie Greco, 84, formerly of Schwartz Towers, Auburn, peacefully left this world surrounded by her family Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at Matthew House of Auburn.
She was born on May 13, 1930 in Auburn, to Vincenza DiGiamo Greco and Carmine Greco. She was a West High School graduate and worked at GE, Enna Jettick Shoes, and was a partner in GEM Car Wash, a family business. Yolanda was known as "Aunt Yola" to family and friends.
Her hobbies were bowling, watching the Yankees, and other sports. She loved spending time with her family, especially babysitting for her great-nieces, nephews, and other children. She loved to share her delicious Italian cookies and her famous cheesecake. Our Aunt Yola will always be remembered for being very generous with her time, love, talent, and her dedication to all of the young people in our large extended family.
Yolanda is survived by sisters, Anna Elice and Ida (Joseph) Slaski; her sister-in-law, Genevieve Greco, and many nieces and nephews: Mariann (Donald) Sharra, Joanne Sherwood and Paul Kosinski, John (Carolyn) Elice, Patty (Jimmie) Mills, Kathy (Mike) Cunningham, Joseph Tabone, Sue Dwyer and Jim Buschman, Eileen McHale and Rob Buschman, Ginny (Mark) Stehle, and Noreen Cornall, Joseph (Olga) Greco, James Greco, and Kathy Madden, Barbara Greco, and Linda Skinner; other nieces, nephews, step-nieces, step-nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, along with many cousins.
Yolanda was predeceased by her parents; her infant brother, Gaetano; her brothers, Anthony and Thomas and his wife, Ruth; brother-in-law, John Elice; Richard Cornall; her niece, Ann Marie McHale Tabone, and great-niece, Jamie Mills.
Her life will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Church, Clark Street, Auburn. Burial is in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a donation to Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Drive, Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Yolanda Greco.
