A time of remembrance and visitation for Arthur E. Malloy, 76, was held from 4 to 7 p.m.. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home in Churdan. In accordance with his wishes, Art was cremated.
Arthur Elwood Malloy, the son of Albert P. and Harriett Marguerite (Ewing) Davis, was born Oct. 10, 1937 at Dayton, Ohio. Following the death of his birth father, his mother married William Joseph Malloy who adopted Arthur and raised Arthur as his son. Arthur passed away Aug. 17, 2014 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines. He lived his life to the age of 76 years, 10 months and 7 days.
When Art was in second grade, his family moved from Dayton to New Mexico where they lived in Hot Springs (now named Truth or Consequences) and later moved to Santa Fe. In 1955, Art enlisted in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1958. After his discharge, Art returned to New Mexico and heard from a friend about the construction of interstate 80 being built in Iowa.  He came to Iowa and worked on the interstate. On Nov. 13, 1959, Art was married to Carol Ann Popp and four children were born to this union. He and Carol moved back to New Mexico where he worked construction for a short time. They returned to Iowa and lived in the areas of Walnut and Avoca where Art worked as a hired farm hand for several farmers. They later moved to Audubon where Art worked in construction.  Art and Carol were later divorced and Art moved to Las Cruces, N.M. and worked doing apartment maintenance. Art met Donna Christensen Lebeck Nichols and they were married March 27, 1993.   Donna took a job in the same apartment complex as an office assistant. They were offered a job as resident managers in a complex in Santa Fe. They were there for five years and then moved to Boone, in 2000 where they managed an apartment complex. Art and Donna retired in June of 2001 and moved to a country home near Audubon. In 2008, they moved to Churdan.
