Aunt Alberta was like my grandmother. She is my grandmother's older sister, and I used to visit every summer from Los Angeles. I don't know if the point was to make sure that my upbringing, and our family, didn't stray too far away from our roots in Georgia, or coincidentally to give my mom a break. Whatever, I loved Aunt Alberta for giving me so much. There was nothing like the food (the farmers market for butter beans, or breakfasts of scrambled eggs with pancakes the size of the skillet), politics (campaigning for Thomas Allgood, Ed McIntyre and Jimmy Carter; registering voters), the people around her (family and friends), or several activities around church every week. She was so good and inspirational to me that all I wanted to do was to make good, and live up to what she and my family wanted for me. If you can imagine what it's like to be in a family with so much strength, and the momentum that it provides, it was rich. Thank you, God, and I love you Aunt Alberta. I think all God wants for any of us is to give life the way you did.

To Vernell and the Burns Family,
At some point in time, God’s greater plan calls for us all to return home. Alberta Jasper’s influence has had a great impact on many in this city and state. There will be others to carry on the work she began here. We are all the better for having known her and will do our best because we know that she will be watching.
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelations 22:12
Peace and Blessings,
Bettye Bailey

Vernell,
I am so sorry to hear of your Mom passing. I can remember the days when she taught us Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Good Hope on 13th St. I appreciate her keeping us straight and on the right road. She was a great leader in the Augusta community.
We will keep your family in our prayers.

GOD IS TOO GOOD TO BE UNKIND,HE IS TOO WISE TO BE MISTAKEN, AND WHEN YOU CAN'T TRACE HIS HAND, THAT'S WHEN YOU MUST LEARN TO TRUST HIS HEART.
