Arthur Stone Obituary

FT. LAUDERDALE, F la. - Entered into rest Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Broward General Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He was a native of Richmond County. He was born May 27, 1936 to Elease H. Stone and the late Noah Stone. He was converted and baptized at Bethel A.M.E. Church where he served on the Usher Board. He later joined the United States Army and after returning home became a member of the American Legion and VFW, where he served as Commander of Post 220, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Precious to him was his early singing years with the gospel quartet, The Royal Lights of Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 16, 2004 at noon from Bethel A.M.E. Church, 623 Crawford Avenue with Reverend Mark S. Pierson officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 2014 Cook Road at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive fr iends Friday, October 15, 2004 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his devoted wife, Loraine Stone of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three sons, Arthur D. (Robbiestene) Stone of North Augusta, S.C., Mark (Johnnie) Boyd of Augusta, Ga. and Marcus Stone of Miami, Fla.; four daughters, Yvonne (Rev. Chuck) Smallwood, Martinez, Gwendolyn Williams, Jacquline Carter, Theresa Stone Mitchell, all of Augusta, Ga.; five step children of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; mother, Elease H. Stone of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Elaine I. Tate, Rhonda (Teboc) Tolbert and Yvonne Brown, of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Marvin Stone of Augusta, Ga. and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dear Elaine and Family,

I just now found out of Arthur's passing. I am so, so, so, very sorry. Words can't even express the sadness that I know you all are experiencing. You know that Arthur was very near and dear to my heart and will ALWAYS BE near and dear to my heart. How many fond memories I have of Arthur, I can't even begin to say. Please know that I am praying for you all and asking the Holy Spirit to comfort each and every one during this most difficult time. I love you, Elaine.
