Curtis Holland Obituary

SFC (Retired) Curtis L. Holland, Sr., entered into rest Sunday, December 10, 2017. Curtis was the son of the late William Holland Sr. and Mary Victoria Rawls-Holland of East Chicago, Illinois. He attended West Vocational School and later joined The United States Army in 1958. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 golden years, Mrs. Bertha Marion Holland. Curtis, although serene and comical had a variety of friends irrespective of race, creed, or color. He treasured his home and his family. While serving in the Army, he received several medals for his high-ranking positions; veteran of Vietnam. His favorite pastime event was playing bid wiz with his closest friends.

Mr. Holland, Sr., leaves to cherish fond loving memories with his children; Curtis (Stella) L. Holland Jr., Kaiserslautern, Germany and Chantelle (Dale) Mealing, Augusta, Georgia; grandchildren; Dale L. McIntosh II, Victoria Anna Marie McIntosh, Dale A. Mealing II, CicileySa Nya Mealing, Charlene Marion Jones and Evalina Chantelle Holland, brother in-law, Abraham Lincoln Allen, Sr. Chicago, Illinois, in laws; Margaret (Sam) Norman, Susie Bachleitner, Geneva Jones, Juanita Jones, Joseph (Tess) Jones, Serena and William Lay, devoted friends, Ann Banks, Howard Beatty and Louis Thomas, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, Kinsey & Walton Chapel, 3618 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, with Brother Carl Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors.

The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, Inc., 3618 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, (706) 790-8858

Please except my sincere condolences for your loss. I new and served under SFC Holland while in the 17th Cavalry 82nd Airborne stationed at Ft. Bragg NC. I new him to be a fair and kind man. He will be missed by all who new and served with him.
