Doris Newman Obituary
Jean was born and raised on a farm in Hephzibah, GA, graduated from Hephzibah High School, and lived her entire life in the Augusta area, retiring from E-Z-Go. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed fall trips to the mountains and regular lunches at Cracker Barrel. Family was very important throughout Jean's life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Miller Fulcher and Alice Fulcher, brothers C.B. Fulcher and Ralph Fulcher, and by her life-long best friend and sister, Lois Powell. Jean is survived by her son, Michael Newman, grandchildren Clayton Newman and Lauren Newman, nieces Kathy Culbreath, Gayle Carter and Diane Westen, and nephew Jim Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Hopeful Baptist Church, 2973 Winter Road, Blythe, GA 30805. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829 Arlington, VA 22215.

Hi Michael, I just heard about the passing of your mom, Mrs. Jean Newman. As kids growing up together in Augusta, GA, I will always remember her kindness and gentle heart and warm spirit. Mrs. Jean was the best! I will always remember her. ~ Blessings to you my childhood friend and your family!

Never did meet your mom, Mike.... but she had to be quite a lady considering the legacy she's left behind. She did good work forming you into the man you are, and by extension Clay and Lauren. I'm sure the lunch crowd at the Cracker Barrel heard all about your family on a regular basis. My sympathies for her passing. As I told Jane when her mom passed a few weeks back, she isn't just in a better place, she's in the BEST place.
