Etta Dorris Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Etta Louise Hester Dorris, 90, wife of 50 plus years to the late R.D. Dorris entered into rest Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Nancy Hall Personal Care Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with minister Arthur Pigman officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Dorris was born in Portland, TN on December 8, 1921to the late Harry and Ida Thompson Hester. She was a retired beautician running Lakeside Beauty Shop for many years. She was a member of Evans Church of Christ and former member of the Richmond Hill Road Church of Christ. She worked in Nebraska assembling bombs during WWII. She enjoyed sports and watching sports on tv. Especially basketball which she played in high school. Survivors include; Her daughters, Sherry Mercer and her friend (Wayner Fetner) of Augusta and Donna Greene and her husband Bobby of Granbury, TX; son, Ronald Dorris and his wife Barbara of Nashville, TN; brothers, Harry Hester and his wife JoNell of Hendersonville, TN and Bobby Hester of Bowling Green, KY; seven grandchildren, Wenona Carter, Todd Mercer, Trent Mercer (Kathy) of Augusta, David Dorris (Emily), Mark Dorris, Karen Dorris and Daniel Dorris of Nashville, TN; five great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and angels of Nancy Hall Personal Care Home Evans for their extra loving care as well as the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living for their 3 years of excellent care. A special thanks to Denise and other care givers of Regency Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evans Church of Christ 515 Gibbs Road Evans, GA 30809 or the American Cancer Society 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30-2:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906.
