Etta Rollins Obituary

WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Etta Johnson Rollins, age 82, entered the Gates of Heaven Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Heavenly Hands Personal Care Home in Augusta, Georgia after a horrific battle with the mind teasing disease, Alzheimer's. God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. He put his arms around her and whispered "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not beg her to stay. A golden heart stopped beating and hardworking hands put to rest. God took her home to show us He always takes the best. Mrs. Rollins was born in Aiken County, South Carolina but had lived the last 55 years in Burke County, Georgia. Mrs. Rollins was the daughter of the late Bessie Weatherford Johnson and the late Haskell Claude Johnson. In the past, she worked at Mack's Department Store, The Village Square and The Glamour Box. As a Christian woman, she worked hard to serve the Kingdom of the Lord. In her lifetime she had been a member of Stiefletown Baptist Church, Gough Baptist Church and Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. She was a born teacher and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She could crochet and cross stitch. Actually, she could do anything she set her mind to do. She is survived by three children; Rachel Boyd Brown (Bruce) of Augusta, Miriam Boyd Brooks (Jay) of Martinez and Steve B. Boyd (Monica) of Seoul, Korea; three grandchildren: Allison Brown of Augusta, Jason Salemi (Alison) of Augusta and Gina Hyejin of Singapore; and five great grandchildren: Jackson Owens, Ana Grace Owens, Brandon Salemi, Kenley Salemi and EmmaClaire Salemi. She is also survived by sister-in-laws; Barbara Ann Johnson, Sarah Johnson and Zula Mae Johnson. She was preceded in death by her sisters; Lorine "Susie" Vivian Gregory and Betty Jane Spires, brothers; John Buck Haskell Johnson, Julian Edward Johnson, Finley Henderson Johnson, Levins Curtis Johnson and Jimmy Johnson. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church, 710 Stone Avenue, Waynesboro, Georgia with Reverend Wes Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro. Pallbearers will be nephews; Buddy Johnson, Danny Ray Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Sr., David Johnson, Jr., Finley Glenn Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Jr., Brad Metts, Ryan Metts and Buddy Turner. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home, 842 North Liberty Street, Waynesboro, Georgia. My Dearest Miriam,
It has certainly been a journey and yet I have to say that I am so honored to have been beside you every step of the way. Heaven is a sweeter place because she is there. We Love You.

Rachel, Miriam and Steve...My heart is so heavy for you but remember the treasured love of God that Aunt Etta instilled in each of you. Let her love compel you. Share with others what they need. Let this be your heritage and the joy of your heart. Through eternity, what you have done for Christ, that, and only that, you are. My love to you is forever. Ann

Rollins family
I am sorry for the pain that you are now dealing with. Now Mrs. Rollins is no longer suffering. With God's promise we can see her again restored to her youthful vigor and that pretty smile again. May the memory and promises from God cushion the pain you are enduring.
