I was walking into a office yesterday and saw a brick dedicated in his name. It brought me up short and I was flooded with emotion.
I'm 58 and he was my pediatrician and my son's as well.
I knew him as a child and as the mother of a child in his loving care. As a child, I always was happy to go to see him. He was so disarming and gentle I hardly knew he was assessing my health. As a mother, I watched with amazement and love as he cared for my chronically ill son. I never knew him outside of office visits, but to this day just hearing his name brings a smile to my face. He blessed all that knew him and I count myself fortunate to be among that group.

What can be said about Dr. Mac, except he cared and loved for each of his children. Dr. Mac was my doctor growing up and then he was my daughter's doctor. When I married and moved to California, Dr. Mac always ask my mom when he saw her and my little brother about his California girls. Upon visiting home I usually ended up seeing Dr. Mac with one of my children. He was always available.

Dr. Mac even took the time to visit the funeral home when I lost my husband to brain cancer. Unfortunately, my husband's body was flown to SC to be buried and I did not get to go back at that time, but he was able to talk to my mom and send a message to us in California.

Dr. Mac was a very caring person and will be missed greatly by all the lives he touched.

My Daughters and I would like to extend our Sympathy to all of the Family of "Dr Mac". He was truly a great Doctor and a Great Man. "Dr Mac" always gave such loving care and attention, not only to his patients but also to us parents, and that always made a large impression on us not only with the 1st child but on thru the 3rd child. We will miss "Dr Mac" always.

What a wonderful man and neighbor. I have been moved away for fifteen years, but keep track of Aiken news via my daughter Pat Carlisle who lives in our old house on Walker Ave.

I would have liked to have attended Dr. Mac's funeral but I do want to express my deepest sympathy and wish the family well.

To the family and friends of Dr. Mac....I was a patient of his from around 1968 until I was in my late teens and he was perhaps the most caring and gentle doctor I have ever known. He will surely be greatly missed. My condolences to his family.

Dear McManus Family, I send my love and sympathy to one and all. Especially Neil and Trudy & children; my cousin, Jerry and all her children. I did not know Dr. McManus, but the write-up tells me a little of his love and care of others. What a beautiful and gentle man he must have been. With love, Helena

I am so sorry for the loss of Dr. McManus (Dr. Mac). He was my pediatrician for 18 years. He was a very loving and caring man. I actually liked going to the doctor just so I could see him and get a lollypop.. :) He was a very intelligent man. I know he is at peace now in heaven. Your family is in my prayers!
