Gilbert Hendricks Obituary

Merry Brother's Brick & Tile AUGUSTA, Ga.- Gilbert Buford Hendricks, 89, entered into rest Monday, February 23, 2004 at Doctors Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at Poteet Funeral Home, West Chapel, 3686 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Georgia with the Rev. John Kenney officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Robert Taylor Sunday School Class and members of the retirees group of Merry Brothers Brick & Tile. Mr. Hendericks is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Roger Nunn of Toccoa, Georgia; one brother, Fred N. Hendricks, Fayetteville, Arkansas; and three granddaughters, Beth and (Bill) Johnston, Susan and (Chad) Wickes all of Evans, Georgia, Shelley Nunn of Clayton, Georgia; one grandson, Steve and (Leslie) Nunn of Chesspeake Beach, Maryland; one great-grandchild, Claire Wicks of Evans, Georgia. Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred W. Hendricks. Mr. Hendricks was a native of Metter, Georgia and was a retired Plant Manager at Merry Brothers Brick and Tile and member of the retirees of Merry Brothers Brick & Tile. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. Hendricks was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Robert Taylor Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, West Chapel, 3686 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Ga. I used to go fishing with Gilbert, Harry Camp,George Kemp(my dad) and George Stafford. Mr. Hendricks was a respected member of that group and I can still see him in the boat on the Altamaha River.
