Harry Bly

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Harry J. Bly, of Augusta, entered into rest on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was 81 years old. Mr. Bly was born November 18, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry Arthur Bly and Margaret Elizabeth Neuhnan Bly. He was a retired First Sergeant from the United States Army with over thirty years of service. He was an active Deacon of Piney Grove Baptist Church and member of the church choir. He was a former Boy Scout leader, former member of the Augusta Choral Society, the Augusta Barber Shop Group, and the Augusta Players. Mr. Bly is survived by his sons, Richard (Susan) Bly, Michael "Micky" (Jodi) Bly; four grandchildren, Lauren Bly, Brandon Bly, Emily Bly, and Ethan Bly; his sister, Shirley Bly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Kern Bly. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 30906, 706.798.8886. The funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 5060 Mike Padgett Hwy., McBean, Georgia. Rev. Mark Joyner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Eugene "Mr. B" Bracewell, David Lamar, Lance Poindexter, Ray Saxon, Tom Saxon, and Richard "Ricky" Youngblood. Burial will be in a National Cemetery at a later date.
