Harry Bly Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Harry J. Bly, of Augusta, entered into rest on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was 81 years old. Mr. Bly was born November 18, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry Arthur Bly and Margaret Elizabeth Neuhnan Bly. He was a retired First Sergeant from the United States Army with over thirty years of service. He was an active Deacon of Piney Grove Baptist Church and member of the church choir. He was a former Boy Scout leader, former member of the Augusta Choral Society, the Augusta Barber Shop Group, and the Augusta Players. Mr. Bly is survived by his sons, Richard (Susan) Bly, Michael "Micky" (Jodi) Bly; four grandchildren, Lauren Bly, Brandon Bly, Emily Bly, and Ethan Bly; his sister, Shirley Bly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Kern Bly. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 30906, 706.798.8886. The funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 5060 Mike Padgett Hwy., McBean, Georgia. Rev. Mark Joyner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Eugene "Mr. B" Bracewell, David Lamar, Lance Poindexter, Ray Saxon, Tom Saxon, and Richard "Ricky" Youngblood. Burial will be in a National Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, and ICU Staff of Eisenhower Army Medical Center for the wonderful care and concern given during his illness. Richard,Susan,Lauren & Brandon, So sorry to hear of the lost of your dad and granddad my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of need He is in the arms of Jesus now and no more suffering and pain .He lived a long and happy life and is now rejoicing with his other family and friends that have gone on before.It is hard to lose a loved one but sometimes a greater joy knowing that they are with the Lord and are not suffering anymore.
