John Jenkins Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - John Jenkins, Jr., 94, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was born June 26, 1920 to the late John and Jennie Gerideau Jenkins. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving on active duty for 32 years, through campaigns in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. After retirement from active duty, he worked at the Charlie S. Norwood Veterans Center for an additional 13 years until retirement. He loved western and war movies and novels. Graveside services are planned for Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10am at the Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA. He is preceded in death by one son, John Timothy Jenkins. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen A. Jenkins; one son, Kenneth (Wanda) Jenkins, Houston, TX; four daughters, Dorothy Jenkins, Kim J. Wilkins, both of Augusta, GA, Lisa Jenkins, Silver Springs, MD, Hope J. Harris, Lawrenceville, GA; one daughter-in-law, Barbara L. Jenkins, Morrow, GA; family friend, Susan Kozel, Stockbridge, GA; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
