Raymond Heider Obituary

AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Raymond Adam Heider, 79, of Brandy Rd., Aiken, died Friday, October 29, 2004 after a long illness, in the V. A. Hospital, Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sam Marcengill will officiate. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Mr. Heider was born in Eria, Pa., to the late Joseph and Hazel Struchen Heider. He and his wife moved to Aiken in 1955. He served in the U.S. Armored Division with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of American Legion Post #0169. He was the owner of R.A. Heider Construction, Carolina Specialty and co-owner and developer of many other properties in Aiken. Survivors include his loving wife Delores Volk Heider; two sons, Robert (Donna) Heider, Aiken and Thomas (Betsy) Heider, Graniteville; three daughters, Connie (Harry) Shade, Eileen (Jimmy) Byrne and Marily (Jimmy) Jolley, all of Aiken; eight grandchildr en, Adam Bass, Bryan Vasser, Michael Shade, Melissa Jolley, Jeffrey Heider, Julie Shade, April Heider and Allison Jolley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Heider. Pallbearers will be Larry Noel, Carrol Busbee, Melvin Flippin, Charles Douglas, Bill Summers and Tom Roberts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross, or the V.A. Medical Center, Augusta, Ga., 30904 The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, Inc., 715 East Pine Log Road, Aiken, S.C.
